NGO Partner: Video Volunteers
Location: Baga, Goa, India
Description: This film was produced during a two day video blogging workshop in Goa which happened to coincide with the Goan People's Film Festival. NGO Partner: Community Video Unit
Location: Mumbai Maharastra India, Yuva Water, CVU
Description: Imagine how scary it is for slumdwellers to have to think about paying for water? After screening this film (which is an informational video about how there's a plan to privatise the city's water source) some 300 people, instead of the usual 60, showed up for a Government meeting and demanded that officials come clean about the plan and what the costs for slumdwellers will be.
Success story: The Government actually halted the plan in that part of Mumbai and initiated supply of water twice a day instead of once!

  • Let’s clean up Mumbai!
Issue: Water
CVU: Hamari Awaaz
NGO Partner: Yuva
Location: Mumbai, Maharastra, India
Description: Filth and garbage are huge problems in the slum areas of Mumbai. There is hardly any municipal system for collecting waste. This video takes slum dwellers on a visual journey with a piece of garbage, showing them the huge and unsustainable landfills where their garbage end up, and introduces them to a hard-working woman who makes her living as a rag-picker in those landfills.
Success stories: This film has been used by NGOs working on the issue of sanitation and have seen an increase of meeting attendances. Most importantly, the Government placed dumpsters in two of the major slum areas for the first time.
