  • Apna Elections! // Our Elections!
Issue: Political issues
CVU: Apna TV
NGO Partner: Akshara
Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
Description: Duration: 3:20 mins, Location: Mumbai This video stars Bollywood filmstar and social activist, Rahul Bose as the anchor of the magazine. The video encourages youth to participate in Mumbai local city elections and to cast a vote and demand for a local "complaint box" so that elected representative can act upon the communities' needs.
The video magazine particularly targeted youth apathy in casting of votes and emphasizing how important Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections are for citizens of Mumbai as it takes care of most of their basic day to day necessities. Though this video is focused around the local BMC elections, it is relevant for any election. Making this magazine was a marathon for the CVU as it was going beyond election awareness to include ways to make the corporators accountable. In the 12 days before the election when the magazine was completed about 50 screening were conducted in working class colonies, in colleges and in many meetings organized by NGO's.
Soon after, the magazine was covered by almost all the leading newspaper of Mumbai.
